Hotspot Mode Setting
In addition to WiFi Mode,
the A9 Mini Camera also features a Hotspot Mode. This mode is very
useful when you want to use the camera in a location without internet access,
such as when traveling, vacationing in remote areas, or simply monitoring a
small room without relying on a router.
Hotspot Mode allows the
camera to broadcast its own WiFi signal, enabling a smartphone to connect
directly to the camera without an external internet connection. This way, you
can still view the live preview even without being online.
1. What is Hotspot Mode?
- Definition:
A mode where the camera acts as an access point (mini WiFi transmitter)
that can connect directly with a smartphone.
- Main function:
Provides real-time access to camera video without the need for a router or
external internet.
- Signal range:
Generally around 5–10 meters indoors, sufficient for close-range
monitoring.
Hotspot Mode is often
used for portable monitoring, such as:
- Monitoring babies or
children in a bedroom.
- Guarding vehicles in
the garage.
- Bringing the camera
while traveling for added security.
2. How to Activate
Hotspot Mode
Follow these steps:
1. Power On the Camera
Press the power button until the indicator light turns on.
- Red & blue
lights flashing → indicates the camera is ready to broadcast a
signal.
2. Open WiFi Settings on
Your Smartphone
- Search for a new
network with a name like “CMxxxxxxxx” or “A9_xxxxx” (default
SSID of the camera).
- Select the network.
3. Enter the Default
Password
- The default password
is usually 12345678 (check the manual or camera sticker if
different).
- Once successful,
your phone will connect directly to the camera.
4. Open the Camera App
- Launch the app (for
example, HDWiFiCam Pro).
- The camera will
automatically appear in the device list since it is already connected via
the built-in hotspot.
3. Advantages of Using
Hotspot Mode
- No internet required:
You can monitor the area even without a router or mobile data.
- Fast & simple:
Just connect your phone to the camera’s WiFi, no extra configuration
needed.
- Portable:
Ideal for travel, use in vehicles, or temporary monitoring.
- Enhanced privacy:
Since it’s not connected to the internet, the risk of hacking or
unauthorized access is lower.
4. Limitations of Hotspot
Mode
Despite being practical,
this mode has certain limitations:
- Limited range:
Only about 5–10 meters, and even shorter through walls.
- No remote access:
The camera can only be viewed by devices directly connected to the
hotspot.
- Limited multi-device
access: Usually supports only 1–3 devices
simultaneously.
Therefore, Hotspot Mode
is more suitable for short-term local use, not long-term monitoring.
5. Additional Settings in
Hotspot Mode
Once connected, you can
adjust several settings in the app:
- Video Resolution:
Choose between SD (saves battery & data) or HD (clearer, but heavier).
- Two-Way Audio:
Enable the microphone to hear surrounding sounds or speak via the app.
- Snapshot &
Recording: Capture photos or record video
directly to your phone storage.
- Security Settings:
Change the default hotspot password for improved security.
6. Tips to Optimize
Hotspot Mode
- Place the camera in
a clear line of sight, not too far from the phone.
- Change the default
password immediately to prevent unauthorized access.
- Use a power bank if
you want the camera to stay on while traveling.
- Avoid using it in
areas with heavy WiFi interference for a more stable connection.
7. Troubleshooting Common
Issues
- Camera not showing
in WiFi list: Press the reset button for 5–10
seconds, then try again.
- Frequent
disconnection: Keep the distance within 5 meters
for better stability.
- Incorrect password:
Reset the camera to factory settings to restore the default password.
- App not detecting
the camera: Close and reopen the app, ensuring
your phone is still connected to the camera network.
📌 Professional
Note:
Hotspot Mode on the A9 Mini Camera provides excellent flexibility for users who
need quick monitoring without the hassle of connecting to the internet. For
example, while traveling, you can simply power on the camera and monitor
directly from your phone.
However, it’s important
to understand that this mode cannot replace WiFi Mode in terms of remote
access. If you want to monitor your home while away in another city, WiFi Mode
remains the primary choice. Hotspot Mode is best seen as a quick, practical, and
offline solution.
